ICURN Annual Conference & Continuous Education

Co-hosted by ICURN, World Council of Credit Unions, and the National Association of State Credit Union Supervisors (NASCUS), the ICURN Annual Conference & Continuous Education is the only event of its kind.

Credit union regulators from all over the world meet in one place to gain a global perspective on regulatory issues and best practices and discuss common issues among peers in a closed forum.

This invitation-only event is open to agencies with statutory authority for supervising credit unions and other financial cooperatives.

More than 70 credit union regulators from across the globe are expected to attend the ICURN Annual Conference & Continuous Education in San Diego.

The ICURN conference will address critical issues faced by both mature and emerging systems. Topics will include:

  • Future Prospects and Strategies for Credit Unions
  • Successful Policymaking Vs. Regulating
  • How to Assess Corporate Governance
  • Strategies for Capital Formation
  • Credit Union Risk Management: Case Studies

New this year: the third day of the conference will be dedicated to an educational session based on NASCUS's renowned accreditation program for credit union examiners in the United States.

Cost to Attend

Conference registration fees per person are US$500 for ICURN members and US$750 for non-members. Registration includes access to general and breakout sessions, all conference materials, continental breakfast, three lunches, coffee breaks and one group dinner. Participants are responsible for their own travel expenses.

ICURN Membership Renewal

The annual ICURN membership fee per organization depends on the credit union sector size:

  • US$350 for credit union supervisory entities overseeing credit unions with total assets of US$1 billion or more
  • US$150 for credit union supervisory entities overseeing credit unions with less than US$1 billion in total assets

How to Register for the Conference

If you did not already receive an invitation via email, please contact Lili Tangwall at ltangwall@woccu.org. Registration deadline is March 25, 2013. Cancellations and refund requests received in writing by March 1, 2013, are subject to a US$100 administrative fee. No refunds will be offered after March 1. Substitutions are accepted at no additional cost.

Dinner

On the evening of Monday, April 15, conference attendees and their guests are invited to a group dinner aboard the famous USS Midway Museum in San Diego. There is no extra cost for dinner, which is sponsored by NASCUS. Spouses and partners are invited to join the dinner as well. Dinner cost for guests is US$119 per person and includes a three-course meal and two drinks.

The attire for the conference and dinner is business casual (no tie required).

How to Make Hotel Reservations

Westin San Diego is offering a group rate of US$189 per night for a single room and US$209 for a double room. The hotel deadline has been extended until March 22 and is subject to availability. The group rate is available for April 14 to 19, 2013. Unfortunately, the hotel is fully booked for the days prior to Sunday, April 14.

Please note that all guest rooms and public areas of the hotel are smoke-free. The hotel will post a US$200 cleaning fee to the account of any guests who smoke in their hotel room.

Complimentary Airport Shuttle Service

The Westin San Diego provides complimentary shuttle service to/from the San Diego International Airport and the hotel between 6 a.m. and 11 p.m., seven days a week. Once you have collected your luggage, please contact the hotel at +1-619-239-4500 and one of the operators will give you directions to the pick-up area and an estimated time of arrival as to when the driver will be there to pick you up. Hotel Cancellation Policy

Guests are responsible for paying for their own accommodations. Deposits (taken either in cash or by credit card) are refunded or credited only if notice is received 72 hours prior to arrival date. Guests must obtain a cancellation number from the hotel.

Visa Information

Getting your travel documents well in advance of your travel dates is important. If you require a visa, the application process could be lengthy. We strongly suggest you begin as soon as possible.

If you require a letter of invitation, please follow the steps below:

  1. Register for the ICURN Annual Conference & Continuous Education and submit payment.
  2. Download and complete the request for letter of invitation form.
  3. Email the completed form to ltangwall@woccu.org or fax it to +1-608-395-2001.

Letters of invitation will only be issued once the conference registration and payment have been received. All letters will be emailed as PDFs, no exceptions.

If you have paid your registration fees and are not able to obtain a visa, you will need to contact Lili Tangwall at ltangwall@woccu.org immediately about a possible registration refund. Visa denial does not guarantee a refund of any registration fees, and each request will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Cancellations by March 1 are subject to a US$100 administrative fee.
